Rural WIB Conference for NAWB Members
On Monday, November 16th, NAWB hosted a web conference with NAWB members from rural WIBs and associated organizations from across the country. Ron Painter is meeting with the U.S. Senate Democratic Steering Committee to discuss the impact of the recession and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act on rural America, and he wanted to hear directly from rural WIBs about their individual experiences and circumstances.
Peter Creticos, Executive Director of the Institute for Work and the Economy, gave a presentation showing unemployment statistics and related data on the effect of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the Economy on rural vs. urban America, after which many of the participants shared situations and experiences in their own areas.
NAWB Members can click the ‘Read More’ link below to download an audio recording of the conference and for a copy of Peter's PowerPoint Presentation. NAWB plans to host more of these discussions for its members. In particular we are arranging a series of calls to discuss the legislative and policy issues surrounding WIA Reauthorization. Stay tuned.
