NAWB is now accepting nominations for its Board of Directors through June 30. We are seeking leaders who represent the charitable, governmental, and private-sector partners that make up our nation’s workforce system.

Any individual from a NAWB member organization in good standing may submit a nomination, including self-nominations. Serving on the NAWB Board is an opportunity to help shape the future of the workforce system, contribute to national workforce priorities, and advance the association’s mission. Board members set the direction for NAWB, providing oversight of NAWB’s resources and long-term sustainability.

NAWB’s Board consists of between twelve (12) and eighteen (18) directors elected by the membership—a majority of whom must represent the private sector and at least two-thirds must be members of local workforce boards. The Board can also include up to seven (7) Special Purpose Directors, who are appointed by the Board Chair.

Serving on the NAWB Board is an extraordinary opportunity to contribute to a national association, expand your network, and gain valuable leadership experience. Board members set the direction for NAWB, ensure appropriate stewardship of its resources, and provide oversight for the organization. In addition to their governance roles and responsibilities, directors have a unique influence on the direction of the national workforce system and the American workforce itself.

We anticipate several openings this year. To be considered for one of these openings, nominees must be representative of an NAWB member organization in good standing (current on its organizational dues), with particular focus on local and state workforce boards. In the past, the Chair’s Special Purpose Director appointments, serving one-year terms, have brought a variety of backgrounds and expertise to NAWB’s board. They have come from the field, from local workforce boards or professional staff, from corporate entities and industry sectors, as well as from key educational organizations. They often have expertise critical to relevant strategic NAWB priorities or programmatic initiatives.

Directors are required to participate in the Board’s quarterly meetings, which are held virtually or in-person, as well as Board committee meetings, which are mostly virtual. All directors will be asked to serve on at least one (1) committee. NAWB members are invited to submit nominations from which NAWB’s Nominating Committee and Board Chair might draw for election to the NAWB Board of Directors, Special Purpose Director appointments, or for assignments to various Board committees or task forces.
