Workforce Development Boards’ Role in Building the Talent Pipeline in the Growing Care Economy

Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the youth development and peer support fields have a projected growth of 13% from 2023 to 2033, with the behavioral health and substance-use disorder counseling industry having 19% growth. The U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration reports that as of Sept. 2024, the mental health field continues to face critical staffing shortages.

As a partner in the PLACE Hub, a U.S. Department of Labor-funded initiative to address the labor shortage in this field, NAWB is hosting a webinar on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 3 pm ET, to share information on the occupations within the care economy, understanding the multiple points of entry, the scope of employers needing labor and how the workforce development boards can take advantage of the PLACE Hub to meet the critical labor needs of the industry.

Join this conversation as we explore how WDBs can provide value and also contribute to local economic mobility.
