Your Priorities Are Our Priorities: What We Learned from the Member Survey So Far

At NAWB, membership starts with listening. As our Member Survey closes today, we want you to know: we hear you. Your perspective matters, not only in shaping your NAWB membership experience, but in strengthening the workforce system nationwide.

You want timely insight into what’s happening in Washington and what it means for your workforce board and the people you serve. To strengthen our advocacy on your behalf, we expanded our team of Gail Ravnitzsky-Silberglied and Steve Voytek with the addition of Chris Andresen, amplifying the voice of workforce boards in Washington and advocating for the policies and resources our system needs.

You also want practical solutions, professional development, and innovative ideas that help your organization move beyond compliance and prepare for what’s next. In response, we launched our monthly “How Do They Do That?” peer learning series, creating an opportunity for workforce boards to share what’s working, exchange best practices, and learn from one another. You asked for a collaborative space to connect and share ideas. We listened and created the Community in our Member Portal—a dedicated space where members can exchange ideas, ask questions, and share best practices. Community is also home to recordings of our webinars, giving you the flexibility to access valuable programming and insights whenever it’s most convenient for you. And this week, we welcomed Dr. Jennifer Wilson to our team to expand our professional development and training opportunities.

Beginning in September, our new virtual learning platform will make that training even more accessible with on-demand courses available to members, covering a broad range of topics from business and interpersonal skills to deep dives into nearly all industries, including emerging industries, at deeply discounted rates. That means more opportunities for you and your team to build skills, access practical expertise, and learn at your own pace—without stretching your budget.

“We Heard You” is bigger than any single program, resource, or benefit. It’s our commitment to building a membership experience that reflects the diversity of the workforce boards we serve.

No two boards are alike, and your membership experience isn’t one-size-fits-all. From rural to urban communities, from smaller budgets to larger ones, we’re listening to your needs, responding to your priorities, and ensuring every workforce board has a voice in shaping the future of our national workforce system. We are doing this at the Workforce Impact Summit, which is the first in a series of conversations about how we develop a workforce system that works for us and the communities, businesses, and jobseekers we serve.

What you experience locally shapes our national priorities. The solutions you develop helps boards across the country tackle similar challenges. And your expertise strengthens our ability to advocate for policies and resources that reflect the realities of workforce development in communities nationwide. That’s the power of NAWB: connecting local leaders, elevating what works, and bringing the collective voice of workforce boards to the national stage.

NAWB is your partner, your voice, and your association. Together, we strengthen the workforce system and expand the impact workforce boards have on businesses, jobseekers, and communities.

So please keep talking to us. Tell us what you need. Share what’s working and what’s not. Share what you’re learning. And most importantly, tell us where we can do better.

We hear you. And together, we’re turning local leadership into national influence.

Connie Sharp, NAWB’s Director of Membership, brings 24+ years of workforce development expertise, leading innovative membership strategies, partnerships, and data-driven solutions that strengthen workforce boards and their impact nationwide.
