February 12, 2025 — The White House has officially nominated Henry Mack III to become the next Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Employment and Training Administration.
Mack, former Chancellor of Florida’s Department of Education, currently serves as a visiting professor the University of Miami teaching courses in philosophy and religion, and as Vice President for Strategy at St. Thomas University in Miami.
Mack previously served on CareerSource Florida’s state workforce board along with NAWB Board member and CareerSource Northeast Florida local workforce board chair Kevin Doyle.
Mack’s nomination to Assistant Secretary requires Senate confirmation; no date has been set for that hearing.
On a related note, the confirmation hearing for to consider the nomination of Lori M. Chavez-DeRemer to serve as Secretary of Labor has been rescheduled from today to Wednesday, February 19 at 10 am ET due to weather conditions in Washington DC.
